Match a vehicle to an offer

The fOS run that starts from a free truck — read fleet status, find the loads that fit the vehicle, check the chain economics, and make an offer (a direct offer, or a confirmed exchange bid for exchange loads).

This recipe starts from capacity rather than a specific load: you have a truck coming free and want the best thing to put on it. You ask "what can truck B-123 haul next?" and fOS runs the loop from the vehicle outward.

The steps

#ToolWhat it does
1get_fleet_statusConfirms the vehicle and where/when it's free.
2get_vehicle_matchesFinds the loads that fit this vehicle.
3get_chain_economicsPrices the resulting chain for this specific truck.
4request_direct_offerMakes a direct offer to the shipper…
4bprepare_exchange_bid → confirm_exchange_bid…or, for an exchange load, stages and (after your confirmation) submits an exchange bid.

Direct offer vs exchange bid

The final step depends on where the load lives:

  • A load you can win directly from a shipper → a direct offer.
  • A load on a freight exchange → an exchange bid, staged first (prepare_exchange_bid) and then submitted only after explicit confirmation (confirm_exchange_bid), because it commits you on an external platform.

Either way, the price fOS puts forward is the floor-aware bid recommendation, computed for this vehicle's costs.

Why start from the vehicle

Pricing is per-vehicle: the same load has a different P&L on a different truck, because cost depends on that truck's specs and the carrier's rates (see Cost engine). Starting from the vehicle means every option is priced correctly from step one.
