Win a backhaul
The canonical fOS run for filling an empty return leg — search for a load near where the truck ends up, check the chain economics, read the shipper, and make a direct offer. Runs on the web surface.
Filling an empty return leg (a backhaul) is the single biggest lever on profit per truck-day. This is the canonical fOS run for it, on the web surface. You state the goal — "find a backhaul for truck B-123 out of Frankfurt" — and fOS runs the loop.
The steps
| # | Tool | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | search_available_loads | Finds loads near where the truck ends up, in the right window. |
| 2 | get_chain_economics | Reads the real per-leg P&L of the resulting chain — is it actually profitable once deadhead is counted? |
| 3 | get_shipper_profile | Reads the shipper/contact — win rate, objections, what arguments work. |
| 4 | request_direct_offer | Makes the offer to the shipper's contact. |
Why this order
The order is the mission loop in miniature: find the load, price it (as a chain, so the empty kilometres are counted), understand who you're dealing with, then bid. fOS won't offer on a load whose chain economics don't clear the carrier's floor — the price it puts forward comes from the bid recommendation, never a floorless market number.
Guardrails in play
search_available_loadsasks for a missing detail rather than running a blind query (qualification).- The offer is grounded in real economics (Cost grounding).
Next
If the shipper counters, the deal moves into negotiation — see
Negotiate within the floor. When you've secured it,
confirm_win records the win and bills commission (see
search & bidding).
What a recipe is
A recipe is a defined sequence of fOS tools that completes one job — with a trigger, per-step intent and guards, optional steps, and success criteria. Recipes make multi-step workflows reliable and every tool they use is validated against the contract registry.
Match a vehicle to an offer
The fOS run that starts from a free truck — read fleet status, find the loads that fit the vehicle, check the chain economics, and make an offer (a direct offer, or a confirmed exchange bid for exchange loads).
