Chain economics
fOS tools for a chain's real profit-and-loss — get_chain_economics is the cost-of-record read, plus compare_chains and get_best_chains. All read straight from the cost engine; fOS never recomputes cost itself.
Tools for the price stage of the mission loop. These are the cost-of-record reads — they return a chain's real per-leg P&L straight from the cost engine. fOS reads these numbers; it never recomputes cost itself (Cost grounding).
| Tool | Type | MCP | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
get_chain_economics | Read | ✓ | The cost-of-record — real per-leg P&L (fuel/toll/driver/vignette/border, revenue, profit, margin) for a chain. |
compare_chains | Read | ✓ | Compare the economics of several chains side by side. |
get_best_chains | Read | ✓ | The most profitable chains available, ranked. |
These tools run on the web and voice surfaces (a live call may need to read economics mid-deal), and are exposed to external assistants.
get_chain_economics is the authoritative cost answer. "What's the toll / fuel / margin on
this chain?" is answered here, from the engine's real per-leg breakdown — not by any tool that
estimates a cost component. That distinction is the whole point of
Cost grounding. For the market side of pricing (what the lane
pays), see Market intelligence; the two combine into the
bid recommendation.
Load search & bidding
fOS tools for finding loads and acting on them — searching available loads, making a direct offer, confirming a win (idempotent, money-moving), and the exchange-bid tools. Verified against the contract registry.
Market intelligence
fOS tools for market prices — get_price_estimate returns APEX percentiles for a lane, plus benchmark reference tables for fuel and driver rates. Market data informs a bid; the authoritative recommended bid comes from the cost engine.
